There are a number of reasons that doing due diligence is important when finding a puppy including health issues for the dog and not supporting puppy mills or backyard breeders.  However, one couple actually ended up buying a stolen dog!

A guy was holding a garage sale when his neighbor’s dog kept barking and annoying him . . . so he sold the dog for $15.  He didn’t say a word to his neighbor until the police started asking around the neighborhood.

Only then did he tell his neighbor what he had done with her dog.  He couldn’t have just taken the dog back to it’s home?  What kind of person sells someone else’s dog at a garage sale?

The moral of the story is get a little bit of background on the dog when you are looking for a new puppy.  Don’t buy a dog just because it is a blue light special.
